Protecting Self and Others, Teen Program

Join Marc Geestman & Clinical Psychologist Myka Piekenbrock in a Sunday evening 6 week course that will explore the physical and psychological tools to help adolescents feel safe & confident in their environments. Drawing on decades of studying and teaching martial arts, coaching sports, working with high school students and traveling, Marc will help you to navigate complicated uncomfortable situations confidently. Practice the skills necessary to become that person who makes everyone a little bit safer because you are around them. Learn self-defense, work through realistic scenarios and awaken that confident, aware, strong individual inside of you. Myka Piekenbrock will provide the psychological support in developing the social skills necessary to harness confidence and self efficacy. Exploring adolescent's gender specific concerns, fears, and challenging social situations, this 6 week course is what every adolescent needs to feel confident and at ease in current society.

Depending on your individual coverage, Protecting Self and Others may be eligible for health benefit coverage.

To Behave or Not to Behave

This comprehensive workshop will provide educators with the skill sets and training required to work successfully with students displaying behavioural challenges.

The full day/half day workshop is a strength-based, proactive approach intended to provide educators with an understanding of the ABCs of Classroom Discipline, essential to working with students with severe emotional and behavioural challenges.

What to Expect in a Blended Family

This workshop focuses on what the research tells us about how to run a successful blended family.  The workshop looks at contributing factors including the age, gender and disposition of the children as well as the roles each family member plays.

The goal of the workshop is to give manageable, empirically supported strategies to parents and children so that they can avoid the typical pitfalls blended families encounter and embrace the research on successful blended families. 

For best results, this workshop should be attended by all family members.

The Divorced Kid Advantage

Yes, your read that right. Focusing on the distinct advantages and debunking myths around the effects of divorce on children, this workshop is aimed at empowering children and adolescents to see the positives in living in two homes.

Be it double birthday celebrations or bonus grandparents to indulge them, the advantages of developing early coping and communication skills along with additional independence and self confidence will be highlighted. Strategies to enhance the positive affects on children of divorce will be shared.
